Malang (24/11/2023) – The group of I-SHIP participants (International Students Health-related Inbound Program) The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (FKIK UINMA) conducted a visit to the River Kids Special Needs School (SLB) in Malang. This activity was part of the second day of the I-SHIP program.

“"At the I-SHIP event, the committee raised 3 activities, namely cultural exploration, lecture, And social activities. For activities social activities, "Held at the River Kids Special Needs School in Malang, the event aimed to increase the delegates' sense of care and compassion for children with disabilities. At the event, each delegate accompanied a child with a disability. Their activities included group exercise, drawing, and playing," said Dr. Riskiyah, MMRS, from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UINMA.

A series of activities for the visit to the SLB were successfully carried out, starting from the opening with remarks by Dr. Putri Wulan Akbar, M.Ked., as a representative of FKIK UIN Malang and Mrs. Sri Retno as the Principal of SLB River Kids, which was then continued with a performance of works by SLB River Kids students. After the opening, it continued with group gymnastics, to a demonstration of creativity by student representatives such as singing together, reading poetry and coloring, guided by Novi and Uqola, PSPD 2022 students as MCs. .

The activity continued with a presentation on First Aid (P3K) in Special Needs Schools by Dr. Putri Wulan Akbar, M.Ked., Trop. The presentation was enthusiastically received by the River Kids Special Needs teachers, as reflected in the many questions they asked.

One of the I-SHIP participants, Hager Yehya, a pharmacy student from the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine at UINMA, Egypt, shared his impressions of the visit to the River Kids Special Needs School. "I enjoyed today's activity. The material presented was useful, and coloring with my friends at the special needs school was also fun," he said.

Another participant, Sayed Khalid Shahzad, a Masters of Law student from Afghanistan at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang, expressed similar enthusiasm. "The second day of the event was extraordinary. It was a pleasure to meet the students and teachers at the Special Needs School," said Sayed.

Mrs. Iin, the Deputy Principal of River Kids Special Needs School, expressed her hopes for this activity. She hopes this activity will foster collaboration across various disciplines and promote an inclusive world to the general public. "This activity is beneficial as a form of education for River Kids Special Needs students, explaining that social interaction takes many forms, learning to adapt and learn functional communication with others. This activity is a good form of collaboration for the school, as it allows for networking among educational institutions. The presentation of the material can increase teachers' knowledge regarding First Aid in Special Needs Schools," said Mrs. Iin.

The I-Ship visit activity ended with the handover of certificates and vandels to the River Kids SLB, which was followed by a group photo session.
