History of FKIK
State Islamic University of Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has a grand ambition to become a university capable of producing not only great scholars such as Al-Farabi, Al-Ghazali, Ibn Khaldun, Ibn Rushd, but also figures such as Ibn Sina and Ibn Majah. The grand ambition of establishing the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is reflected in the Tree of Knowledge of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, initiated by the founders of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
The process of establishing the medical education program at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, was a long and winding road. It took at least seven years from the initial planning stage. 2009 by Prof. Dr. H. Imam Suprayogo as the Chancellor of UIN Maliki Malang at that time.
Since its institutional status changed to a university in 2004, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has had the primary task of organizing higher education programs in Islamic religious studies and general sciences. In the preparation of the UIN Malang Plan and Strategy for the 2005-2010 period, the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was included in one of the long-term plans. The realization of the UIN Malang Strategic Plan began in 2010 with the submission of a proposal for the formation of civil servant lecturers in the field of Medicine and Health Sciences. Recruitment and appointment of civil servant lecturers and permanent non-civil servant lecturers continued until 2015.
In 2010, Prof. Dr. H Mudjia Raharjo, M.Si. who was then still the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs formed a Preparation Team for the Establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with Prof. Dr. dr. Ma'rifin Husin, Sp.FK from Airlangga University as a consultant. The consultation lasted for 2 years and resulted in proposals for the establishment of the Pharmacy Study Program, the Medical Education Study Program, the Dentistry Education Study Program, Nursing Study Program, and the Public Health Study Program. The proposal was then submitted to the Director General of Islamic Higher Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs for a recommendation.
However, according to the Ministry of National Education at that time, the opening of the Medical Education, Dentistry Education, Nursing, and Public Health Study Programs was currently suspended (moratorium), so only the Pharmacy Study Program at that time received approval. Based on the Decree of the Director General of Islamic Education dated December 17, 2012, then in 2013 Department of Pharmacy, UIN Malang officially accepted its first batch of students, and also became the forerunner to the establishment of FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.
Along with the establishment of the Department of Pharmacy at that time, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang signed a memorandum of understanding with Sebelas Maret University Surakarta (UNS) in the framework of establishing the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Medical Education Study Program through guidance by the UNS Faculty of Medicine. The guidance provided by the UNS Faculty of Medicine to the UIN Malang Medical Education Study Program is in the form of curriculum preparation process and evaluation/training of learning activities as well as preparation of a proposal for the Establishment of the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang Medical Education Study Program.
In the end, the proposal to establish a Medical Education Study Program was again submitted by UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. March 2015, shortly after the moratorium on opening a Medical Education Study Program was lifted. The proposal to establish a Medical Education Study Program at UIN Maliki Malang still had several shortcomings, including the lack of a Main Teaching Hospital. Following up on this, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang immediately partnered with Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital Malang to become the Main Teaching Hospital.
In the month October 2015 Commander of V Brawijaya Military Regional Command Major General Sumardi and staff of V Brawijaya Military Regional Command received UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang at Soepraoen Level II Hospital Malang to conduct an audience regarding UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang's request to use Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital as its main teaching hospital. The request was approved and followed by the signing of an MoU between UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital Malang.
Finally on December 2015, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has again submitted a revised proposal in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and stakeholders (KKI, IDI, AIPKI, ARSPI, and LAMPTKes). After going through a verification process by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Medical Education Study Program is eligible for visitation. In the month of January 2016 The visitation process for the Establishment of the UIN Malang Medical Education Study Program was held at the FKIK-UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang building. The visit was conducted by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and also assessors from KKI, IDI, ARSPI, AIPKI, LAMPTKES and was also attended by the academic community of UIN Maliki Malang and Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital Malang.
Thank God on March 28, 2016 The Decree for the Establishment of the Medical Education Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program at UIN Maliki Malang has been submitted by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education to the Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Mudjia Rahardjo, M.Si. With the issuance of the permit for the Medical Education Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang now has three study programs in the health field. This encouraged the university leadership to combine the three study programs under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK).
After the discussion process at the university senate level, which was then continued to the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB), then on January 2017 The Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang issued a decree establishing the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and appointed Prof. Dr. dr. Bambang Pardjianto, Sp.B, Sp.BP -RE (K) as the first Dean of FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The Rector also appointed Dr. dr. Achdiat Agoes, Sp.S as Vice Dean I, Achmad Nashichuddin, MA as Vice Dean II and Dr. Imam Sujarwo as Vice Dean III.
To date, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has consistently grown and developed into a leading and reputable health faculty. With the noble goal of producing graduates who possess the character of Ulul Albab, they can rebuild Islamic civilization in the health sector.. Amen O 'Lord of the Worlds.
