ROCK – Tuesday, April 21, 2026, marked a new milestone in the academic journey of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. With a grand vision of reaching the global stage, the faculty officially launched the “English Day” as part of a strategic campaign Goes International.

This step was taken not only to improve linguistic abilities, but as a radical effort to transform academic culture towards global excellence (Global Excellence).

Program sustainability English Day This is reinforced by the faculty's full commitment to facilitating language competency development for all human resources. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Malang specifically provides expert tutors in their fields to provide intensive mentoring for educators, administrative staff, and other faculty members. Through this professional guidance, the faculty strives to ensure that international language proficiency is no longer merely formal instruction, but rather a real capacity possessed by each staff member to support work performance and service quality at the international level.

Commitment Across Language Boundaries

Starting today, every Tuesday, the atmosphere at Campus 3 of UIN Malang will feel different. The entire academic community, from leadership and lecturers to students and administrative staff, is encouraged to communicate entirely in English. This program is the faculty's active response to the demands of the modern healthcare world, which no longer has territorial boundaries.

“"We are moving towards a global academic community. English proficiency is no longer an option, but a prerequisite for our scientific contributions to be heard and recognized internationally," said a faculty representative on the sidelines of the program launch.

Four Strategic Pillars of Internationalization

Based on the roadmap released through the program Goes International, FKIK UIN Malang has prepared four main pillars to ensure this transition runs effectively and measurably:

1. Tuesday is English Day

Tuesday is designated as a day of full dedication. All formal coordination and casual interactions within the faculty are required to be in English to build confidence in communication.

2. Standardization of Learning Materials (English-Based Materials)

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) academics are now required to submit at least one copy of the presentation materials (PPT) in English for each course. This ensures students become familiar with international medical and health terminology from an early age.

3. English for Academic Writing

This policy targets the heart of faculty research. All drafts of research proposals and final project presentation materials must be in English. Furthermore, the proposal hearing and thesis accountability process are also conducted in English.

4. Conversation Class for Education Personnel

The faculty recognizes that internationalization must be inclusive. Therefore, the teaching staff (administrative staff and laboratory assistants) are equipped with special conversation classes to improve the quality of service when dealing with guests, researchers, or international students.

Building a 'Global Academic Community' Ecosystem‘

Through the theme “Be Part of The Leap!”, The Faculty of Medicine and Medicine (FKIK) of UIN Malang is inviting all stakeholders to take a bold leap. This program is designed to eliminate language barriers that have often hindered international journal publication and cross-border research collaboration.

The impact is expected to be felt not only in academic performance but also in developing students' character, making them more competitive in the global job market. By introducing an English-language environment in laboratories, classrooms, and administrative offices, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Malang is building an ecosystem ready to compete with leading universities worldwide.
