Surabaya, April 24, 2026 – The health of the Hajj pilgrims is the main concern of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage implementation officers. To ensure that the condition of the pilgrims remains prime, the UIN Malang Medical Department in collaboration with the Surabaya Health Quarantine Center and the Surabaya Embarkation Hajj Dormitory UPT carries out health checks on the pilgrims before flying to the holy land, so that in carrying out the series of Hajj pilgrimages the pilgrims feel fit and devout.

dr. Abdul Malik Setiawan, M.Infect.Dis, PhD, Head of the Medical Profession Study Program at UIN Malang, was welcomed directly by dr. Ratih Nawang Palupi, M.Kes and Mrs. Nunki Nirmalasari, ST, M.KL as the supervisors of UIN medical students at the Surabaya Hajj Embarkation Dormitory. dr. Malik advised the students to always maintain their attitude and professionalism in carrying out this task with the hope of becoming Hajj officers who have spiritual depth, great morals, breadth of knowledge, and professional maturity. dr. Malik also thanked dr. Ratih and Mrs. Nunki for patiently guiding the students in carrying out their duties at the Surabaya Hajj Embarkation Dormitory.
During the event, Dr. Malik, accompanied by Dr. Ratih and Mrs. Nunki, toured the rooms and buildings of the Hajj dormitory and observed the activities of UIN Malang students on duty. Dr. Ratih then expressed her gratitude to the UIN Malang Medical School for sending its students to assist the health team at the Hajj dormitory, considering that this year saw an increase in the number of Hajj pilgrim groups and hoped that this collaboration would continue in the future.

These health checks are a crucial part of the Hajj pilgrimage, given that the majority of pilgrims are elderly and have underlying health conditions. With optimal medical services, it is hoped that all pilgrims can perform their pilgrimage safely and smoothly until the entire Hajj is complete.
