Malang (14/08/2021), nearly 300 implementing officers were deployed in the 5000 Dose Mass Vaccination Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Located at Campus 1 UIN Malang, this mass vaccination program was commanded by the UMMI Clinic UIN Malang involving a large number of competent health workers from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Malang, employees, medical and pharmacy students, young doctors from the Medical Profession Study Program, and alumni of FKIK UIN Malang. The vaccination program lasted for 2 days, namely Saturday (14/08/2021) and Sunday (15/08/2021) with a target of 5000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine for the UIN Malang family and the community in Malang City.

The UIN Malang Mass Vaccination Program is a mandate from the East Java Provincial Government through Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, which is aimed at higher education institutions such as UIN Malang in order to accelerate the achievement of... herd immunity among the community. The Governor, who was originally present in person to open the event, was represented by the Head of Bakorwil III East Java, Dr. Sjaichul Ghulam, who expressed his appreciation to UIN Malang for organizing the mass vaccination event. Also present were the Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. M. Zainuddin, MA, along with the staff and the head of the COVID-19 Task Force. In his remarks, Prof. Zainuddin emphasized that the 5,000 Dose Mass Vaccination Program is a manifestation of good synergy between the Government and Educational Institutions. "We hope that with this mass vaccination, the COVID-19 pandemic can end soon," he concluded. The vaccination event was symbolically opened with a ribbon cutting by the Head of Bakorwil, followed by the vaccination process for the community.

The vaccination process is divided into several posts, namely: registration, physical examination and vital signs, screening, vaccination, and observation. Each post is staffed by experienced and competent officers in their respective fields. The chief executive, Dr. Christyaji Indradmojo, Sp.EM, explained that the main organizers of this Mass Vaccination event were the employees of the UMMI UIN Malang Clinic, supported by students from the UIN PSPD, coordinated by the TBM-RMT (Rhazes Medical Assistance Team). Medical Team) which is currently chaired by Retno Dewi Atmiyati from the PSPD FKIK UIN Malang. "The vaccinators are doctors from FKIK who certainly have the competence and authority," said Dr. Chris. The KIPI (Post-Immunization Adverse Events) screening and observation post is also staffed by pharmacists from the FKIK UIN Malang Pharmacy.

Vaccination is one of the links in the chain of multi-layered efforts to prevent or even stop the Pandemic. Adapted from the concept of disaster management, there are at least 4 multi-layered efforts that must be implemented simultaneously in facing the pandemic: (1) Preventive Efforts: Keep your distance, and try to avoid crowds, (2) Mitigation Efforts (minimize impact): implementation of sneezing & coughing etiquette; routine hand washing with soap; use of masks when in high-risk areas; vaccination; (3) Preparedness: Construction of safe houses, field hospitals, escalation of SPGD-S (Daily Emergency Response System) to SPGD-T (Integrated); (4) Emergency Response Efforts: Strengthening hospitals and structured & measurable referral flows. The main weapon in facing the pandemic is education. Therefore, the concept of organizing mass vaccinations at UIN Malang this time is themed Education. "We hope that this vaccination plan, flow, and service model will raise awareness among all parties that we need to take measured and structured actions based on patience, honesty, openness, and humility as capital for facing and planning for the future," concluded Dr. Chris.
