MALANG, June 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang's commitment to producing a globally minded generation has once again yielded brilliant results on the international stage. Two talented Pharmacy students from the class of 2025, Nyiur Lintang Irawan and Hesti Gea Rohmawati, achieved impressive results at a regional event. Global Youth Innovation Summit (GYIS) 2026 Singapore and Malaysia Chapter which will take place from 20 to 23 June 2026.

This international event, organized by the Global Youth organization, is specifically designed to facilitate talented young people from diverse backgrounds in exploring innovative and sustainable ideas. Focusing on implementation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, this regional conference tested the critical thinking skills, diplomatic skills, and cross-cultural collaboration of all selected delegates.

Winning International Awards

In official post-event documentation released live from the awards ceremony, both Nyiur Lintang and Hesti Gea dazzled in their traditional Indonesian woven sashes and neatly pinned delegation ID cards. The dedication, academic performance, and articulate abilities of these two UIN Malang FKIK students won four prestigious awards each:

• Nyiur Lintang Irawan: Successfully secured the title 2nd Place Best Delegate for his substantial contribution to the dynamics of the group session, as well as leading his team to achieve 3rd Place Best Team, 3rd Place Best Speakerat the innovation project presentation session, and the popularity category award as Most Favorite Team.
• Hesti Gea Rohmawati: Through her communication skills and mastery of the material, Hesti also won the title of honorable individual, namely 3rd Place Best Speaker, occupying the position 2nd Place Best Delegatein the discussion cluster, and led his group to secure a position 3rd Place Best Team and title Most Favorite Team.

Busy Schedule of Academic and Cultural Exploration

This extraordinary success was not achieved instantly. Based on the official schedule of activities (rundown), all delegates were faced with a very dense and challenging series of agendas for four full days in two countries at the epicenter of Southeast Asia's progress.

The journey began on the first day, Sunday, June 20, 2026, with the delegates departing from Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport for Singapore on AirAsia. Upon landing at Changi Airport, they were immediately faced with their agenda. Cultural Adventure and City Exploration which includes iconic destinations such as Merlion Park and Universal Studios Singapore to understand global tourism management. The first day's agenda was strategically closed with University Visit and Orientation at Asia's top campus, the National University of Singapore (NUS), before the delegates continued their overnight road trip to Kuala Lumpur via Johor Bahru.

Entering the second day, Monday, June 21, 2026, the atmosphere of competition and collaboration intensified. Wearing batik as a symbol of national pride, the delegates explored the cultural sites of Batu Caves and KLCC, followed by an academic and orientation visit to Universiti Malaya (UM). At this top-ranked Malaysian university, students conducted in-depth observations of the international academic climate and expanded their interdisciplinary research horizons.

Peak Competition at International Campus

The third day, Tuesday, June 22, 2026, was a crucial and decisive moment for the entire GYIS program. Taking place on the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) campus, students wore formal attire—full suits, white shirts, and hijabs—with a touch of... maroon, Nyiur Lintang and Hesti Gea faced the international jury in the session SDGs Project Presentation.

In this critical session, their analytical skills in pharmaceuticals, public health, and the integration of social innovations, which they learned at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, were comprehensively tested. Their mastery of data-driven arguments, resilience in the Q&A session, and visionary solutions ultimately led them to the top of the podium. Awarding Delegates which was announced in the main hall of IIUM in the afternoon.

This prestigious series of programs was then officially closed on the fourth day, Wednesday, June 23, 2026, through a session Youth Networking Session and Gift Exchange in the historic area of Dataran Merdeka and the government center of Putrajaya Malaysia, before finally all delegates departed back to their homeland via KLIA2 International Airport.

Inspiration for Alma Mater and Nation

The international achievements of Nyiur Lintang Irawan and Hesti Gea Rohmawati signal a positive impact on the global standing of the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine (FKIK) of UIN Malang. These achievements demonstrate that first-year students (class of 2025) are capable of competing, arguing, and leading at the regional level, bringing honor to the university and the nation.
