Jakarta, January 22, 2025 — The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang conducted a comparative study visit to the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. This activity was attended by 20 participants consisting of lecturers, educational staff, and students, with the aim of gaining insight into the leadership system, organizational culture, and student programs to improve academic and non-academic quality within the FKIK UIN Malang environment.

The visit was led by Mr. Yossi Indra Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., as the person in charge of the activity, he hoped that the Faculty of Medicine UIN Malang could obtain information about the good practices and experiences of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Jakarta in managing student areas, both at the Faculty, Study Program and Student Organization levels. Because as fellow Faculties under PTKIN, the Faculty of Medicine UIN has several similarities so that these experiences will certainly be easier to adopt. In addition, this meeting was also used as a practical step in initiating the formation of the Faculty of Medicine UIN Consortium throughout Indonesia, namely by starting to discuss practical activities that can be carried out in the consortium, especially in the field of student affairs.

Also present at this activity were the Vice Dean III, Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Alvi Milliana, M.Biomed., Secretary of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program, Secretary of the Pharmacist Professional Education Study Program, Secretary of the Medical Education Study Program, and Head of the Public Relations & Protocol Unit, as well as representatives of student organizations such as the Chair of HMPPD, HMPSF, and DEMA.

In an interview, Deputy Dean III for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Alvi Milliana, M.Biomed, stated that the purpose of this comparative study was a strategic step to strengthen collaboration between institutions and adopt best practices. This collaboration is expected to further enhance knowledge and experience related to student affairs and student organizations.

Commitment to Transformation

The comparative study included intensive discussions with the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta, direct observation of work mechanisms, and an exchange of ideas related to curriculum development and student programs. It is hoped that this collaboration will not only enrich knowledge but also serve as a foundation for new initiatives at the Faculty, such as strengthening the mentoring system, improving research quality, and optimizing the role of student organizations.

With the spirit of collaboration and learning, FKIK UIN Malang is committed to continuing to innovate to create a competitive and globally competitive academic environment.

Mochammad Yazid Al Bustomi, a Campus Ambassador from UIN Malang who participated in the visit, shared his experience: "The comparative study at the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Jakarta, was a valuable experience. We saw how the leadership system, organizational culture, and student programs are implemented there. By comparing their structures, work programs, and organizational dynamics, we can gain inspiration to improve effectiveness and innovation at the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Malang."“

Yazid also emphasized the importance of post-visit follow-up. "This comparative study will be more meaningful if it goes beyond mere discussion and includes the implementation of relevant ideas. It's important to adapt to the needs and characteristics of students in our environment for optimal results," he added.
