The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang together with the Hajj Health Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, held a 2022 Hajj Health Public Lecture with the theme of Hajj Health Updates in the Pandemic Era with the speaker Dr. Budi Sylvana, MARS, MH., as Head of the Hajj Health Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Puskeshaji Kemenkes RI). This event was opened by the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Development Dr. H. Isroqunnajah, M.Ag at 08.00. This activity is in line with the vision, mission, goals and objectives of FKIK in developing Hajj health as the Faculty's excellence in the Tridharma of Higher Education.
In his remarks, the Vice Rector explained that Hajj preparation encompasses not only financial matters but also health. It is crucial for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) to collaborate with the Ministry of Health's Health Center (Puskeshaji) so that the faculty can prepare and contribute to Hajj health through research, community service, and education.
“"Thank you for the attention of the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Health Center (Puskeshaji) for organizing matters related to the Hajj pilgrimage and collaborating with the faculty. We hope this will be beneficial, especially for our students who will become healthcare workers," explained Gus Is, the vice-chancellor's nickname, in his opening remarks.
Dr. Budi Sylvana then delivered a speech stating that UIN, through FKIK, initiated a collaboration with Puskeshaji in various matters, particularly Hajj health services.
“"We have data in Siskohat that can be used to develop educational and research activities," said Dr. Budi.
The online public lecture via Zoom was attended by the entire FKIK Academic Community, especially students of the 4th and 6th Semester Medical Education Study Program and students of the 6th Semester Pharmacy Study Program. This activity is expected to increase insight and serve as a knowledge update, especially in the field of Hajj health.
The public lecture was moderated by Dr. Christyaji Indrasmojo, Sp.EM, Secretary of the Hajj Health Unit, Faculty of Medicine, UIN Malang, and Head of the Clinic at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. In the public lecture, delivered by Dr. Budi Sylvana, MARS, MH, we need to broaden our perspectives on Hajj health. There are many Hajj health issues, and policies related to Hajj health need to be disseminated to all parties. There are issues in Indonesian Hajj health, particularly related to age. This is related to the waiting time from registration to performing the Hajj, which can even reach 36 years in one province in Indonesia.
“"It's conceivable that the Hajj problem is no longer a pandemic issue but rather a geriatric issue, and it poses a major challenge in how to manage Hajj health. critical period "This is our focus because there is a high mortality rate due to strenuous activity. Education is crucial for healthcare workers," said Dr. Budi.
In addition to the public lecture, the event also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Malang and the Hajj Health Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Health. This collaboration is expected to be realized in the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of Hajj health development.
