Batu, May 6, 2026 – Thirty-six prospective civil servants (CPNS) from UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang (UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang) planted trees on Tuesday (May 6, 2026) behind the Psychology Building, Campus 3. This activity demonstrates a concrete commitment to supporting environmental conservation and implementing ecotheological values within the university.

The tree-planting initiative is part of an ecotheology strengthening program initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. This program emphasizes the importance of ecological awareness based on religious values, by encouraging State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to become pioneers in preserving environmental sustainability.

In this activity, the civil servant candidates planted avocado and sapodilla tree seedlings. The selection of these productive plants took into account not only the greening aspect but also the long-term benefits. Ecologically, avocado and sapodilla trees contribute to improving air quality, absorbing carbon, and creating a more beautiful and shady campus environment. Furthermore, the fruit is expected to be shared as a form of productive sustainability. Enthusiasm was evident from the beginning of the activity, with all civil servant candidates directly involved, from digging the soil, planting the seedlings, to the initial watering.

Of the 36 civil servant candidates (CPNS) involved, four were from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK), namely Dr. Muhammad Farid Wafi, M.Biomed, Dr. Putri Aulawiya Rosyida Halim, M.Biomed, apt. Alma Nuril Aliyah, M.Farm, and Achmad Arief Hidayatullah, S.Kom. The presence of cross-faculty CPNS in this activity reflects the spirit of collaboration and togetherness in building a culture of environmental care on campus.

Besides demonstrating environmental awareness, this activity also served as a moment to reflect on the fact that service as a civil servant is not only realized through administrative and academic services, but also through concrete contributions to the sustainability of the earth. The ecotheological values promoted teach that preserving nature is part of humanity's moral and spiritual responsibility as caliphs on earth.

In the future, similar activities are expected to be carried out sustainably, not just as ceremonies, but also accompanied by a commitment to care for and monitor the growth of the planted trees. Thus, today's small gesture can become a long-term ecological investment for future generations. Through this activity, UIN Malang CPNS demonstrates that the integrity and dedication of ASN is also reflected in their concern for the environment. The simple act of planting trees symbolizes hope for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable campus.
