
Malang, October 6, 2023 – SMPN 7 Malang, located in Bumiayu sub-district, Kedungkandang district, is now the center of attention in efforts to address stunting in Malang City. The area ranks second in terms of stunting rates, a serious concern for stakeholders in the education and health sectors.
The principal of SMPN 7 Malang, Mrs. Ida Wahyuni, M.Pd., expressed her concern over the stunting problem affecting several students at her school. Currently, eight students have been diagnosed with stunting. To address this issue, SMPN 7 Malang is collaborating with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Malang.
Prof. Dr. dr. Yuyun Yuniewati PW, M.Kes., Sp.Rad(K), Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UIN Malang, enthusiastically welcomed this collaboration. The school and faculty agreed to implement this collaboration in the form of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS). The PKS will be realized through various community service activities, particularly activities related to stunting prevention at SMPN 7.
The Faculty of Medicine and Medicine (FKIK) of UIN Malang offers four relevant study programs: undergraduate Pharmacy, undergraduate Medical Education, Pharmacist Professional Education, and Physician Professional Education. Medicine and Pharmacy play a crucial role in combating stunting, and this collaboration is expected to significantly benefit the students of SMPN 7 Malang.
This collaboration was attended by a number of representatives from SMPN 7 Malang, namely Ida Wahyuni, M.Pd (Principal of SMPN 7 Malang), Nyoman Dedy Kusuma Wardhana, S.Kom (Deputy Head of Public Relations), Senanglah, S.Pd (Deputy Head of Student Affairs), and Fatah Rosully, S.Ag (Teacher of SMPN 7). Meanwhile, from the FKIK UIN Malang, also present were leaders consisting of Prof. Dr. dr. Yuyun Yuniewati PW., M.Kes., Sp.Rad(K) (Dean of FKIK UIN Malang), dr. Tias Pramesti Griana, M.Biomed. (Head of PSPD Study Program), dr. Alvi Milliana, M.Biomed. (WD III), Ach. Nashichuddin, MA. (WD II), Apt. Abdul Hakim, MPI, M.Farm (Head of Pharmacy Study Program), as well as the FKIK International Relations and Cooperation Unit, and representatives of the FKIK Public Relations and Protocol Unit.

The signing of the MoU between SMPN 7 Malang and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Malang took place today, Friday, October 6, 2023, by the Dean of FKIK and the Principal of SMPN 7 Malang, in the second-floor meeting room of the Ibnu Thufail Building, FKIK UIN Malang. Furthermore, this activity will be managed and supervised by the Cooperation and International Relations Unit of FKIK UIN Malang, which will ensure the smooth and effective implementation of this MoU.
This collaboration is expected to be a concrete step in addressing stunting issues at SMPN 7 Malang and empowering its students to become agents of change who can positively impact the local community. Hopefully, this collaboration will be significantly beneficial and inspire other schools to undertake similar efforts to address stunting in Indonesia.
