Three FKIK student organizations collaborated effectively to successfully conduct community service at the An-Nahdliyah Islamic Boarding School.

Malang, August 11, 2025 – The atmosphere at the An-Nahdliyah Kepuh Islamic Boarding School, Karangploso, that morning was filled with enthusiasm for learning and concern for health. Three student organizations of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, including the Student Executive Board (DEMA), the Asian Medical Students' Association (AMSA), and the Rhazes Medical Team (RMT), joined hands in a community service activity entitled FKIK IN ACTION × AMSATYA MENGABDI × ARYADUTA. With the theme CERDAS (Prevent Risks with Prompt Action): Build Healthy Habits and Respond to Dangers), this activity provided education, practical skills, and free health services for Madrasah Aliyah (MA) students.

The series of events began with first aid and personal hygiene education by Dr. Prida, Sp.DVE, FINSDV, FAADV. The material was delivered interactively, followed by educational games by AMSA, screening of a health-themed short movie, as well as free health checks and educational information counseling (KIE) by alumni doctors, FKIK lecturers, and the RMT team. The health checks were carried out by a team of lecturers consisting of apt. Novia Maulina, M. Farm., Meilina Ratna Dianti, M. Kep. Ners., apt. Ginanjar Putri Nastiti, M. Farm.

Nur Aulia, the chairperson of the FKIK BERAKSI program from the Student Executive Board (DEMA), expressed her hope that this activity would bring tangible benefits to the participants. "Hopefully, students will gain useful knowledge about personal and environmental hygiene, understand what scabies is, and be able to practice clean and healthy living," she said.

The Deputy Dean 3 of FKIK UIN Malang, Dr. Alvi Miliana, M.Biomed, expressed her appreciation for the collaboration of the three student organizations that were able to synergize well. She emphasized that activities like this are not only a means of service, but also strengthen the relationship between FKIK and the community, especially the Islamic boarding school environment. "We hope this activity runs successfully, is well received by the Islamic boarding school, and has a positive impact that is sustainable. This established relationship should be a door to future collaboration, both in the fields of health and education. Students have great potential to be agents of change in society, and this activity is one proof of that," she said.

The principal of the An-Nahdliyah Islamic Boarding School, Ulfa Aulia, S.Ag, expressed her deep gratitude. She stated that the scale of the event far exceeded initial expectations. "We never expected this event to be this large, with such a varied and beneficial series of events. This is a major collaboration connecting the Faculty of Medicine and the Islamic Boarding School, which we hope will improve the health of our children in the future. The education provided not only broadens students' horizons but also teaches them practical skills that can be directly applied in their daily lives. We hope this collaboration will continue and grow," she said.

For the participants, this activity provided tangible benefits. Mirza, a MA student, said she found the health check and educational materials to be very helpful. "I now understand the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, especially regarding the material about scabies. Previously, I only had a brief understanding, but after the doctor explained it, I understood how to prevent it, the signs, and how to maintain a clean environment. This activity also made me more aware that cleanliness is not only for ourselves, but also important for those around us," she said enthusiastically.

Appreciation came not only from the school and students, but also from alumni doctors. Dr. Revi, one of the alumni doctors and a volunteer health examiner, assessed that the event went smoothly and was very beneficial. "As a doctor, volunteer, "I feel this activity is very impressive because it provides benefits to my friends at the Islamic boarding school. Health is the pillar of everything, and early detection through promotive and preventive approaches can strengthen various aspects, including education," he explained. He also advised participants and the community to always maintain physical and environmental health to avoid infectious and non-infectious diseases. "My hope is that in the future the reach of benefits will be wider, the synergy between these three student organizations will be maintained, and the next FKIK BERAKSI activity will be even more compact and successful," he added.

Through this cross-organizational collaboration, FKIK UIN Malang demonstrates its commitment to implementing the tridharma of higher education, particularly in the field of community service, by providing real contributions to improving the health and knowledge of the Islamic boarding school community.
