Makassar – Students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang have once again achieved a proud achievement in the Ar-Razi Scientific Poster Competition, held on September 4–7, 2025, in Makassar. The combined student team, consisting of Qomar (Medical Education, class of 2023) and Ahmadiyah Musliha (Pharmacy, class of 2022), won first place after going through a rigorous selection process and competing with various universities in Indonesia. This cross-study collaboration is a plus point, as it demonstrates the synergy between medical and pharmacy students in developing scientific papers. By combining clinical and pharmaceutical perspectives, they are able to present ideas with a high level of novelty and relevance to the health sector.

In an interview, a team representative explained that preparations began with a search for ideas with a high level of novelty, gathering supporting data, and crafting a simple yet communicative poster. "We strive to create a research process that is easy for readers to understand and ensure the poster adheres to the format determined by the committee," he said. Regarding tips for winning, they emphasized that there is no specific formula for becoming a winner. "It all comes down to luck, hard work, prayer, and the support of many parties. For us, the most important thing is to try our best. Whatever the result, it is a victory in itself," he added.

However, the journey to victory was not without challenges. One of them was limited data, as the topic was rarely researched, resulting in limited references and comparisons. "We overcame this by clearly explaining the research results and conveying its limitations. Nervousness during presentations was also a challenge, but it could be overcome with thorough preparation," they explained.

Preparation for the competition itself was carried out in a relatively short time, namely about two weeks during the preliminary round and two weeks after the announcement of the finalists. The results of this hard work paid off with the achievement of first place. "Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful that Allah gave me the opportunity to win first place. I never expected it at all because this was my first time participating in a competition," said Qomar and Ahmadiyah gratefully. This success was also inseparable from the support of various parties. Academic advisors, block coordinators, and competition supervisors also provided direction, administrative support, and schedule flexibility. However, students also highlighted that funding from the faculty was not yet available for this activity.

At the end of the interview, they expressed their hopes for fellow students who want to participate in similar competitions. "Hopefully, you can enjoy the process and not be burdened by the results, because winning is just a bonus. The most important thing is to dare to try and gain valuable experience. God willing, from there, other opportunities will open up," they concluded. This achievement is proof that collaboration between study programs at FKIK UIN Malang is able to produce superior scientific work while inspiring other students to continue working and bring honor to their alma mater on the national stage.
