FKIK Lecturers Head to West Sulawesi for a Humanitarian Mission
On January 18, 2021, Dr. Christyaji Indradmojo, Sp.EM., a lecturer in the Medical Education Study Program (PSPD) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at the State Islamic University (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, departed for Majene-Mamuju, West Sulawesi, by air. He departed with two other people, Dr. Purwanto and Dr. Nur Syamsyu Dhuha, on instructions from the East Java Region of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI). The three were representatives of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI). Emergency Medical Team (EMT) IDI East Java in collaboration with the Ksatria Airlangga Floating Hospital Team.
EMTs consist of three levels. EMT 1, or the first line, is responsible for sorting and identifying patient cases. If they are not resolved, they will be promoted to the next level, where the floating ship is the next line of EMTs. For efficiency, this team not only acts as a level 1 EMT but also as a team. Rapid Health Assessment (RHA) to determine the EMT level.
In addition to his active role as a lecturer at the PSPD, he also serves at the Public Health Service Center (P2KM) at UIN Malang. "Thank God, personally and institutionally, I received support and prayers from the Dean and the FKIK community for this trip," he said. He was impressed not only by the support from the leadership and fellow lecturers, but also by the enthusiasm of the PSPD students who helped with the preparations before departure.
“I was impressed by their strong intentions and determination. They helped me prepare the inventory list, logistics, basic life survival, "We've completed the RHA questionnaire and other preparations. Because they don't have the legal documents, they can't go, but their enthusiasm for learning is commendable," Dr. Chris concluded.
In the future, he advised that this spirit be spread to the entire FKIK community so that it becomes an institution that can produce medical personnel who are responsive to disasters and can be an inspiration to compete with each other to be the best.
He and his team are scheduled to serve until January 24, 2021. May Allah SWT be with them in every step of their worship, from the beginning until their return. May they be successful and healthy.
