Malang, April 20, 2025– The Medical Education and Medical Profession Study Program of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang officially received Excellent Accreditation status from LAM-PTKes, after going through a field assessment process on February 24–28, 2025. This achievement was achieved after 8 years of journey since its establishment in 2016. The field assessment process that lasted for almost a week became a crucial momentum that marked this extraordinary success. This Superior Accreditation is not just an administrative achievement, but a real proof that the hard work, mature strategy, and synergy of the entire Accreditation Committee including the Person in Charge of Criteria 1-10 and the entire FKIK Academic Community, especially the Medical Education and Medical Profession Study Programs have produced brilliant results. A historical milestone that confirms FKIK's position as a superior and competitive medical education institution at the national level.

This success is the result of hard work and solid synergy between the leadership, lecturers, educational staff, students, and all campus elements. Prof. Dr. dr. Yuyun Yueniwati, PW., M.Kes., Sp.Rad(K), Dean of FKIK, stated that this achievement is the result of long-term dedication. "It's not even nine years old, but we've achieved Superior accreditation. This is no ordinary thing; it's the result of solid teamwork and dedication from all campus elements," she said.

The accreditation process has been ongoing since 2016, progressing from a C rating to a B rating, and finally to an Excellent rating. According to Dr. Tias Pramesti Griana, M.Biomed, Head of the Medical Education Study Program, this journey has been fraught with challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which temporarily delayed assessments. Despite this, the study program consistently conducts periodic evaluations to maintain quality.

The Study Program Secretary and Head of the Accreditation Assessment, Mr. Yossi Indra Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., expressed his gratitude for this achievement. Initially, the study program's target was only to achieve "Very Good" status, but thanks to careful strategy and calculations, the final result exceeded expectations. "We optimized all potential, from internal quality assurance, accreditation simulations with external assessors, to full student involvement in prayer and istighotsah," he explained.

He also highlighted technical challenges such as limited time and facilities. However, the strategy visualization through photos and videos of the new building successfully addressed the assessor visit limitations. Support from leadership and cross-sector coordination ensured the smooth and systematic preparation of the forms.

Meanwhile, Dr. Iwal Reza Ahdi, Sp.PD, from the Medical Profession Study Program, emphasized that superior accreditation has broad strategic impacts, particularly in increasing graduate competitiveness at the national and international levels. "FKIK graduates are now recognized as having undergone a high-quality, standards-based education process, making them more competitive in entering the professional workforce," he explained.

He also added that this status opens up opportunities for broader collaboration with teaching hospitals, network partners, and research institutions. Superior accreditation also encourages improvements in curriculum quality that aligns with scientific developments, national and international standards, and community needs.

“"With this superior accreditation, FKIK UIN Malang not only enhances its reputation as a medical education institution, but also expands its network and makes a real contribution to the development of public health in Indonesia," said Dr. Iwal.

This Superior Accreditation also opens greater access to national and international collaborations, serves as a mentoring faculty for new medical programs, and increases opportunities for scholarships and further study. "We want our graduates to be highly competitive, both nationally and globally," concluded Dr. Tias.
