The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang held its first lecture for the odd semester of 2020/2021, inviting renowned speakers (Monday, September 14). The event was held online via Zoom and attended by all FKIK students from both the medical education and pharmacy programs. The event was moderated by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Apt. Roihatul Muti'ah, SF, M.Kes. opening speech by the Dean of FKIK Prof. Dr. dr. Yuyun Yuniewati, PW, M.Kes., Sp.Rad(K).
This event aims to boost the motivation of FKIK students in this new semester, especially the new students of the 2020 intake. Prof. Dr. Aulanni'am, drh., DES., opened the material with the theme of Learning and Creative Strategies to Become an Achieving Student During the Pandemic. He, who also serves as Vice Rector 1 of Brawijaya University, advised that self-motivation is important. With positive emotions from ourselves, it will increase brain power, success and self-esteem. "Making agreements with yourself, constantly remembering success, setting big goals, maximizing energy to start, and having a mentality that is not afraid of failure and believing that all difficulties have a solution are things that must be done to motivate yourself," he said.
The final speaker addressed the theme of the Ulul Albab Concept in Health Sciences. Prof. Dr. HM Zainuddin, MA., reminded students to uphold the characteristics of ulul albab: dhikr, thought, and good deeds. These traits are mentioned 16 times in the Quran, with various contests. "As FKIK students with ulul albab, it is necessary to integrate science and Islam in education and to conduct contemplation and tadabbur of Allah's verses, both kauniyah and qauliyah," he advised.
