The Asian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang won a national award at the 2023 AMSA Indonesia National Conference, held from June 30 to July 2, 2023, at AMSA-Hasanuddin University, Makassar. This year's theme was "Earth: Enhancing Environmental Health for a Healthy Life." AMSA is an organization representing medical students in Asia, the Asia Pacific, and beyond, founded on three philosophies: Knowledge, Action, and Friendship.

The National Conference, or MUNAS, is AMSA Indonesia's final national event, presenting a report on the accountability of all AMSA-University and AMSA Indonesia activities during its final tenure. The event also hosts the AMSA-Indonesia Award (AIA), a form of appreciation for all AMSA-Universities who have made their AMSA-University a success based on their respective categories.

By competing with 40 other universities in Indonesia, AMSA UIN Malang achieved the 1st Most Progressive University in Influential Activities as well as the Nomination of The Most Progressive University in Steadiness and Nomination of The Most Progressive University in Scientific Activities. The appreciation was given directly by the Regional Chairperson & Secretary of Membership and Development to the AMSA-Uinma 2022/2023 Representative Nuril Farid Abshori, a student of the Medical Education Study Program class of 2020 on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Hasanuddin University Hotel, Makasar. The UIN Malang delegation consisted of Nuril Farid, Fauzan Alfarizky, Rifki Zidan, and MR Aurino.

“"I'm very happy and I didn't expect it. Although AMSA-Uinma is only two years old, and this is its first year officially as AMSA-University, there have been many developments during the last tenure, from AMSA-Uinma member participants who participated in exchanges, national and international competitions and held events or work programs that involved many lecturers, alumni and external parties. Plus, an unexpected achievement was obtained during the National Conference in Makassar," said Nuril Farid.

Nuril also advised FKIK students not to be afraid to join external organizations on the national and international stage because all members are still in the process of adapting and learning. 

“"Besides that, let us now frequently participate in competitions, exchanges, and volunteer activities at the national and international levels, because believe me, we will gain a lot of insight and experience that we will not get in the world of lectures alone, where this can only be done while being a student. A brave person is a person who dares to start as early as possible to achieve his dream. VIVA AMSA”, Nuril concluded.

The Advisor of AMSA UIN Malang who is also the Secretary of the Medical Education Study Program, Mr. Yossi Indra Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed., said that he was very touched and proud of the achievements made by AMSA friends for their hard work and extraordinary dedication, for 2 years they have succeeded in implementing many useful programs despite having limited budget and time.

“"My message for this third term is to at least maintain the existing strong work programs and improve their quantity and quality. I also urge all members to be more united and more effective in dividing their time between academics and the organization," said Mr. Yossi.

He also expressed his hope that this excellent performance would receive financial support from both the faculty and the university. Given that this organization is an internationally affiliated organization, it supports the institution's internationalization vision.
