Music Studio, Faculty of Medicine, UIN Malang

Peace be upon you, and Allah mercy and blessings,

Dear Ulul Albab friends, Alhamdulillah, FKIK UIN Malang is one of the medical faculties with a fully equipped music studio. Not only is there a full band, but instruments are also provided for acoustic performance. A dedicated soundproof studio space is also provided to ensure that the music sessions do not disturb those around them.

This facility is provided for students, faculty, and staff as a platform for actualizing interests and talents in the field of music. Furthermore, the musical instruments can be used for entertainment at events organized by both the faculty and study programs.

The existence of the Music Studio and its equipment is thanks to the initiative of the Vice Dean 3 for Student Affairs and Alumni, Mr. Dr. Imam Sujarwo, M.Pd., who asked the Coordinator of the Arts PKM, Mr. Yossi Indra Kusuma, S.Ked., M.Med.Ed. to make a procurement proposal. He was interested after seeing the performance of Medical Students with their Band Group The Tymphany guided by Mr. Yossi who performed at the Medical Study Program Student Day event in 2018.

Finally, in 2020, the proposal was realized with funding from the Medical Students' Parents Association (IOM). This demonstrates the IOM's strong support for positive extracurricular activities initiated by the Faculty to provide students with skills tailored to their individual interests and talents.

Another hope is that students will get a nutritional balance between the right and left brain, where the left brain has been obtained from academic activities through learning according to the curriculum, and the right brain is expected to be nourished by activities that hone creativity outside the curriculum, one of which is by providing facilities for playing music.

In addition to the student band, FKIK also has a band comprised of lecturers and staff from the Medicine and Pharmacy study programs. They regularly practice during their work-from-office schedules to prepare for the next semester's student learning. The band's name is PRN, which stands for Pro Re Nata. Not Soneta or Monata, hehe.

Hopefully the pandemic will end soon, so that all students can make the best use of the Music Studio facilities.

Peace be upon you.
