FKIK UIN Malang Seminar: Towards the Profile of Doctor Ulul Albab

Wednesday (29/12/2021) the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang held a Seminar Towards the Profile of Ulul Albab Doctors 2021. The event was opened directly by the Rector of UIN Malang, Prof. Dr. HM Zainuddin, MA in the Multipurpose Hall of Campus III FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The Seminar Towards the Profile of Ulul Albab Doctors further strengthens the existence of FKIK UIN Malang as a provider of higher education in the field of medicine based on Islamic religious values.

The seminar on the Profile of Ulul Albab Doctors was motivated by the public's need for health professionals, especially doctors who are not only competent but also have noble character. UIN Malang, through its Medical Education Study Program, is also responsible for educating and creating prospective doctors with character in accordance with the institution's mandate, namely 'Ulul Albab'. In his remarks, the Rector of UIN Malang explained that the concept of Ulul Albab according to the Quran is those who always think and remember the greatness of Allah SWT over all His creations on this earth. "Doctors who are Ulul Albab will be good role models for others and provide benefits to many people," explained Prof. Zain as the opening speaker.

The main seminar was moderated by Dr. Iwal Reza Ahdi, SpPD, and opened with a presentation by Dr. Putu Moda Arsana, SpPD, K-EMD, FINASIM, on Physician Competency Standards in Accordance with the Expectations of the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI). This was deemed highly appropriate, as he currently serves as Chair of the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI) and had visited Campus 3 of the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Malang, during a desk evaluation by the KKI in November 2021.

Continued with the second material, namely 'The Role of Muslim Doctors in Health Research in Indonesia'. The material was delivered by Prof. Dr.drh. Aulanni'am, DES, a biochemistry researcher who currently serves as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at Brawijaya University Malang. Prof. Aulanni'am spoke about the importance of downstreaming research products so that they can benefit many people. "Research in the medical field is very difficult but interesting, because it is required to produce safe and effective products and ultimately can reduce our nation's dependence on imported products," concluded Prof. Aulanni'am.

The third material on 'Public Expectations for the Existence of Muslim Doctors with Ulul Albab Character' was delivered by Dr. Muhammad S. Niam, MKes, SpB-KBD, FINACS, Chair of the Medical Committee of Persada Hospital. Dr. Niam began his discussion by identifying the definition and characteristics of 'Ulul Albab' itself. "Ulul Albab is a depiction of a human being who believes and is devout to Allah SWT as well as intelligent and willing to practice his knowledge to provide great benefits to the surrounding community," explained Dr. Niam. He also did not forget to quote Imam Syafi'i that knowledge is divided into two, namely: the science of fiqh for religious purposes and medical science (at_thiib) for worldly purposes. So if a doctor has the ability to master both sciences and practice them, then these are signs of a doctor who is Ulul Albab.
