2019 Health Research Ethics Seminar

Malang – The Health Research Ethics Commission (KEPK) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University of Malang held a Health Research Ethics Seminar on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, which took place on the 4th floor of the Shelter Auditorium, Campus 2, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.

This Health Research Ethics Seminar aims to strengthen readiness researchers in conducting research This event is also part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, where research, as one of the Tri Dharma duties of higher education, must uphold the values of integrity, honesty, and justice.

For health research and development to proceed effectively, a researcher should understand scientific and ethical thinking related to the topics and types of research they are interested in. As an ethical researcher, one must not only respect the willingness and sacrifice of human volunteers but also respect and protect the life, health, privacy, and dignity of research subjects. Experimental animals must also be handled humanely to minimize their suffering as much as possible. Fulfilling these moral obligations is the core of health research ethics.

The event was chaired by Dr. Avin Ainur F, M. Biomed invited two speakers from the Health Research Ethics Commission of the Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University, Malang. The first material on Research Ethics with Human Subjects was delivered by Prof. Dr. dr. Moch. Istiadjid Eddy Santoso, Sp.S., Sp.BS. The second material was delivered by Prof. Dr. dr. Teguh Wahyu Sardjono DTMH., Sp.Park regarding Research Ethics with Experimental Animal Subjects, BBT, and medical records.

The first event held by KEPK Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Malang The event was attended by Pharmacy Lecturers, PSPD Lecturers, Invitations from Dr. Soepraoen Hospital Malang, Lecturers from the Faculty of Science and Technology UIN Malang, PSPD and Pharmacy students, with a total of 170 Participants. According to Dr. Avin Ainur F, M. Biomed, participants were very enthusiastic about the seminar, as evidenced by the large number of questions raised regarding the ethics of health research involving human subjects, experimental animals, stored biological materials, and medical records.
