Strengthening Competence in Hajj Health Research and Halal Product Development, FKIK Holds National Workshop

On Saturday (November 20, 2021), the Research and Community Service Unit (UPPM) of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang successfully held a Workshop on Improving Lecturer Competence in Hajj Health Research in 2021. The event took place online via Zoom and was attended by the entire academic community, especially lecturers and leaders of FKIK. Also in attendance were several lecturers and practitioners in the field of Hajj medicine and researchers in the field of halal products, both from within UIN Malang and from outside the institution.

The Workshop on Improving Lecturer Competence in Hajj Health Research was started at 08.00 WIB by the host, Apt. Ginanjar Putri Nastiti, M.Farm then followed by remarks by the head of UPPM FKIK UIN Malang, Dr. Begum Fauziyan, S.Si., M.Farm. and the Dean of FKIK UIN Malang Prof. Dr.dr. Yuyun Yueniwati PW, M.Kes., Sp.Rad(K) who also officially opened the event. In her remarks, Dr. Begum explained the importance of strengthening competencies, especially for lecturers, in conducting research based on the faculty's excellence, namely in the field of hajj health and halal product development. This is in order to strengthen the vision and mission of the faculty and study programs, namely to become a higher education institution in the field of health that integrates science and Islam with an international reputation. In his remarks, Prof. Yuyun emphasized that the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Malang is committed to becoming a center for Hajj health development and a home for research into halal pharmaceutical products, supplements, and cosmetics that will benefit Muslims. Furthermore, through comprehensive, science-based studies, FKIK UIN Malang aspires to contribute to the policies and administrative aspects of the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.

This workshop presented speakers who are experts in their fields. The first was Dr. dr. Syarief Hasan Lutfie, Sp. KFR(K), Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah and President Director of the Jakarta Hajj Hospital, who presented the topic of Hajj Medical Research Development. Then in the second session, Prof. Dr. Apt. Abdul Rohman, SF., M.Si, Head of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Science and Technology, Institute for Halal Industry and System (PUI-PT IHIS) UGM, who presented the material on Halal Product Development in Hajj Health. And the third was Mrs. Prof. Dr. Apt. Roihatul Muti'ah, SF., M.Kes, Deputy Dean 1 for Academic Affairs, FKIK UIN Malang, who presented the Direction of Hajj Health Research Development at FKIK UIN Malang. The three speakers delivered the material alternately guided by moderators dr. M. Rizal Novianto, MHPE and Apt. Alif Firman Firdausy, S.Farm., M.Biomed. The event was engaging, with presentations from each speaker and discussions from the attendees.

Also present at the event was Dr. Acub Zaenal Amoe, MPH., Head of the Class I Surabaya Port Health Office, who actively participated in discussions with the speakers, discussing the Hajj and Umrah administration system in Indonesia from a health perspective.
