Mass Circumcision

Saturday morning (October 8th) at the UIN Maliki Malang Polyclinic, the cheerful faces of boys eager to be circumcised filled the air. There were also anxious and fearful faces, but the parents beside them continued to calm and encourage them to remain unafraid. This Free Mass Circumcision event was held as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service, by the UIN Maliki Malang Medical Education Study Program in collaboration with El-Zawa.

The free mass circumcision was highly anticipated by local residents, especially those with limited financial means. The cost of circumcision ranges from 500,000 to 4 million rupiah. Participants received direct care from experienced specialist doctors and students from the Medical Education program.

Dr. Nurlaili Susanti, M.Biomed, was delighted to see the joyful faces of the participants and their accompanying parents. This sense of joy demonstrates the community's understanding of the importance of circumcision as a part of Islamic law. "Circumcision is a religious obligation that must be fulfilled by every Muslim male. Therefore, the participation of participants and parents in this activity is a concrete effort to uphold it," she explained.

The Secretary of the Medical Education Study Program, Dr. Abdul Malik Setiawan, MD, M.Infect.Dis., hopes that similar activities can become routine and be continuously improved in the future. This is based on the very positive public response to this activity. He hopes the community will also benefit from the establishment of the Medical Education Study Program at UIN Malang.

The UIN FKIK medical team will be available for consultations, especially during the post-circumcision healing process, if needed. Participants are expected to attend their first check-up on Monday, October 10, at the UIN Maliki Malang Polyclinic.
