The understanding between the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine of UIN Malang and the Faculty of Medicine of UKM Malaysia is actually not new. In the past three years, there have been several collaborations between the two faculties, both in education and research. In 2020, the Medical Education Study Program of FKIK UIN Malang successfully invited Prof. Dr. Hamzaini Abdul Hamid, MBBCh., DrRad as one of the speakers at the 5th Symposium in Health and Medicine. In the same year, Prof. Hamzaini also collaborated with Prof. Yuyun and Prof. Roihatul Muti'ah from FKIK in research on the development of anti-SARS-CoV2 agents.

The aforementioned reasons also underlie the urgency of extending the collaboration between the Faculty of Medicine and Medicine, UIN Malang, and the UKM Medical Center, specifically with the Anatomy Department. The meeting discussed future collaborations. Among the points discussed were collaboration in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: Education, Research, and Community Service.
