The Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Directorate of Early Childhood Education and Islamic Boarding Schools (PD Pontren), has reopened the Outstanding Student Scholarship Program (PBSB). Acting Director of PD Pontren, Imam Safei, stated that PBSB is one of the Ministry's efforts to facilitate Islamic boarding school students who wish to pursue undergraduate studies.<\/p>\n
\u201c"This year, the Ministry of Religion is providing 270 scholarship quotas which will be distributed across 13 campuses," he said in Jakarta, Wednesday (05\/04).<\/p>\n
The thirteen campuses are UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, IPB, UPI Bandung, UIN Sunan Gunung Jati Bandung, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, UGM Yogyakarta, UIN Walisongo Semarang, ITS Surabaya, UNAIR Surabaya, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, UIN Alaudin Makasar, and Cendrawasih University Jayapura.<\/p>\n
According to Imam, the target of this program is students who are in their final year of school and graduated in 2017 at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) under the auspices of Islamic boarding schools or students who are graduates of Muadalah Islamic boarding schools\/Salafiyah Islamic boarding schools and have a Package C diploma held by Islamic boarding schools.
\nIn a separate location, Head of the Santri Sub-Directorate, Ainur Rofiq, said that PBSB registration is open from April 10 \u2013 May 8 2017. Meanwhile, the entrance test will be held from May 17 \u2013 24 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201c"We hope that the Islamic Boarding School management can inform their students about this opportunity," said Ainur Rofiq.<\/p>\n
PBSB has been running since 2005. At that time, the Ministry of Religious Affairs only partnered with two universities: UIN Syarif Hidayatullah and IPB. To date, PBSB has produced thousands of alumni in various fields of expertise, ranging from health (medicine), physics, mathematics, engineering, and more.<\/p>\n
