Malang, February 12, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of the State Islamic University (UIN) Malang held an academic meeting attended by the Vice Rector 1 of UIN Malang, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M. Ag, along with the leadership of the faculty, study programs, lecturers, and academic staff on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. This Academic Meeting was held in preparation for the even semester of 2024\/2025. On this occasion, the Vice Rector 1 provided direction regarding improving academic quality and future faculty development strategies.<\/p>\n

In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Hj. Umi Sumbulah, M. Ag, emphasized the importance of the role of lecturers in addition to formal duties as well as informal duties. "Lecturers not only have formal duties in teaching and assessing students, but also have an important role in informal aspects, such as guiding, supervising student morals, and providing examples in academics and character. As respected figures in the academic environment, lecturers are expected to be role models in ethics, morals, and professional attitudes, so as to be able to shape students who are not only superior in science, but also have integrity in social life," she said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the briefing also covers lecturer performance. Lecturer performance encompasses various important aspects of the academic world, from planning and implementing the learning process, to developing knowledge through research and involvement in community service (pengmas). In carrying out their duties, lecturers are not only responsible for developing the curriculum and delivering lecture material effectively, but are also required to continuously conduct research to produce innovations and useful scientific contributions. Furthermore, community service is an integral part of the lecturer's role in applying their knowledge to have a positive impact on the surrounding environment and broader social development.<\/p>\n

At the end of the briefing session, Vice Rector I conveyed that as the end of this semester approaches, the reporting of Lecturer Performance Load (BKD) through the SISTER system must be prepared immediately. He reminded lecturers to ensure the fulfillment of specific obligations and specific requirements that have been set. In addition, he emphasized the importance of updating data in SISTER, especially those related to research and community service (Pengmas). Journals indexed in SINTA must also be always updated, with regular synchronization to ensure all data remains well integrated.<\/p>\n

The Dean of FKIK UIN Malang, Prof. Dr. Yuyun Yueniwati P. W, Sp. Rad (K), expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the direction given by the Vice Rector 1. She emphasized that FKIK is ready to implement the academic policies that have been outlined and is committed to continuously improving the quality of education.<\/p>\n

As a strategic step, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) will focus on strengthening human resources, both lecturers and educational staff, and improving educational facilities and infrastructure. Furthermore, various programs planned for 2025 will soon be implemented to support academic development within the FKIK.<\/p>\n

In an interview after the event, Vice Dean 1, Prof. Dr. apt. Roihatul Muti'ah, M. Kes., conveyed a message and impression that was in line with that conveyed by Vice Rector 1, that the duties of lecturers are not only formal, but also include the role of being academic and moral role models. In addition, lecturers are expected to conduct intensive monitoring of students, especially in terms of morals, especially for those who serve as academic advisors.<\/p>\n

He also emphasized the importance of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education and teaching, research and development, and community service. To support research, facilities have been provided for lecturers and students. Meanwhile, in the area of community service, Student Work Lectures (KKM) have been facilitated, where lecturers can act as Field Supervisors (DPL). This year, KKM carries the theme "Hajj Health," which focuses on mentoring prospective Hajj pilgrims before their departure.<\/p>\n

In addition, he reminded lecturers to prepare learning well, starting from planning, implementation, to evaluation, in order to identify needs and aspects that still need to be improved in the learning process.<\/p>\n

This academic meeting is expected to serve as a foundation for improving the quality of education and the future development of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) at UIN Malang.
