On June 16-17, 2023, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang held an OBE (Outcome-Based Education) Curriculum Workshop. The event was held at Aston Inn Batu and was attended by lecturers and curriculum teams from four study programs: the Undergraduate Pharmacy Study Program, Pharmacist Professional Education, Medical Education, and Medical Profession. This event was initiated by the Medical and Health Professional Education (UMHPE) Unit of FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The event was opened by the Vice Dean 1 for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Roihatul Mutiah, SF, M.Kes. In her remarks, she explained that this event was held as an evaluation and review of the curriculum in both the Pharmacy and Medicine Study Programs based on OBE. After that, it was continued with remarks by the Chairperson of UMHPE, Dr. dr. Ermin Rachmawati, M.Biomed. She said that the curriculum is not just about formulating lecture topics, learning materials and assessing them. That the outcome-based curriculum as the core business of higher education institutions includes aspects of need assessment, planning, implementation strategies both in terms of teaching methods and the selection of appropriate assessment techniques, as well as a periodic evaluation process that all require good management. In addition, the curriculum, because it is the lifeblood of a study program, must intersect with other activities such as infrastructure, human resource mapping, and finance.<\/p>

The agenda for the first day (16\/6) of this workshop invited two speakers, namely Dr. Cholis Abrori, M.Kes., M.Pd.Ked (Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jember) as a reviewer of the medical curriculum and Mr. Helmy Yusuf, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D (Lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Airlangga) as a reviewer of the pharmacy curriculum. The essence of the material presented by the two speakers is that outcomes-based education (OBE) means focusing and organizing all aspects of the education system, on essential things that students can do when they graduate. OBE is a real implementation of what has been learned, namely actions and performance that reflect graduate competencies. In an OBE-based curriculum, it is necessary to ensure that Graduate Learning Outcomes can be measured properly.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

On the second day (17\/6) the workshop agenda was divided into 2 parts. breakout class<\/em>, namely pharmacy and medicine. The curriculum of the pharmacist professional education study program was reviewed by Mr. Helmy Yusuf, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. The summary of the review results is the Implementation of OBE in the Pharmacist Professional Education curriculum related to applicable practical activities regarding pharmaceutical work, covering the industrial, clinical and community fields. The existence of an OBE-based curriculum is expected to improve the competence of graduates in practicing according to pharmaceutical work.<\/p>

The summary of the results of the PSPD curriculum review and the medical profession is that the implementation of OBE in the curriculum is expected to be in accordance with the vision and mission of the study program. The OBE-based curriculum is not only for the study program but also applies to all educational facilities at PSPD FKIK UIN Malang. It is hoped that it can improve the performance of lecturers in compiling RPS, implementing learning to produce graduates in accordance with medical competency standards and playing a role as practitioners\/clinicians, educators\/researchers and agents of change & social development.<\/p>
