Imam Suprayogo as the Chancellor of UIN Maliki Malang at that time.

Since the change in institutional status to a university in 2004, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang has had the main task of organizing higher education programs in the fields of Islamic Religious Studies and General Sciences.

In the preparation of the UIN Malang Strategic Plan for the 2005-2010 period, the program to establish the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was included as one of the long-term plans.

The implementation of the 2005-2010 UIN Malang Strategic Plan, related to the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, began in 2010 with the submission of a proposal for civil servant (CPNS) lecturers in the field of Medicine and Health Sciences. Recruitment and appointment of civil servant (CPNS) and permanent non-civil servant (PNS) lecturers continued until 2015.

In 2010, Prof. Dr. H. Mudjia Raharjo, M.Si., who was then the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, formed a Preparatory Team for the Establishment of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, with Prof. Dr. dr. Ma'rifin Husin, Sp.FK as a consultant.

The consultation with the Unair professors lasted for 2 years and resulted in proposals for the establishment of study programs in pharmacy, medical education, dentistry, nursing and public health.

The proposal is then submitted to the Director General of Islamic Higher Education at the Ministry of Religion for a recommendation.

The proposal was then submitted to the Ministry of National Education, but because the opening of medical, dental, nursing and public health study programs was currently suspended (moratorium), only the Pharmacy major was approved for opening.

After receiving a recommendation for the implementation of education from the Ministry of National Education in 2012, the Pharmacy Department began accepting students the following year and became the forerunner to the establishment of the FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.

In the same period, in 2012, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang signed an MOU with Sebelas Maret University Surakarta (UNS) in the field of Tridharma of Higher Education which was followed up by an agreement that FK UNS became the Faculty of Medicine that supported (guided) the establishment of the UIN Maliki Malang Medical Education Study Program.

The guidance provided by the UNS Faculty of Medicine to the Medical Education Study Program is in the form of guidance in preparing the curriculum and evaluating/training learning activities and preparing a proposal for the Establishment of the Medical Education Study Program at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang.

The vision of the Medical Education Study Program of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang is to become a leading study program in producing doctors who have spiritual depth, noble morals, breadth of knowledge and professional maturity as well as excel in medical tourism, especially the Hajj.

Therefore, the curriculum is designed with reference to the 2012 Indonesian Doctor Competency Standards (SKDI) and the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) level 7. In addition, the curriculum also has the characteristics of Islamic Integration in every learning.

To develop excellence in the field of medical tourism, especially Hajj, UIN is collaborating with the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organization, which is stated in memorandum of understanding (MOU).

The proposal to establish a Medical Education Study Program was resubmitted to the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education in March 2015 through the Silemkerma portal after the moratorium on opening medical education study programs was lifted.

The proposal to establish a Medical Education Study Program at UIN Maliki Malang apparently still has several shortcomings, including the absence of a main teaching hospital.

Following up on the shortcomings of the proposal, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang collaborated with Dr. Soeproen Malang Level II Hospital as the main teaching hospital.

In October 2015, Commander of V Brawijaya Military Command Major General Sumardi and staff of V Brawijaya Military Command received UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang at Soepraun Level II Hospital Malang to conduct an audience regarding UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang's request to use Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital as the main teaching hospital. The request was approved and followed by the signing of an MoU between UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital Malang.

In December 2015, UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang submitted a revised proposal in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and stakeholders (KKI, IDI, AIPKI, ARSPI and LAMPTKes). After going through a verification process by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Medical Education Study Program was deemed eligible for visitation.

In January 2016, the visitation process for the establishment of the Medical Education Study Program at UIN Malang was held at the FKIK-UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang building. The visit was conducted by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education and also assessors from KKI, IDI, ARSPI, AIPKI, LAMPTKES and was also attended by academic community UIN Maliki Malang and Dr. Soepraoen Level II Hospital Malang.

Thank God Good news came on March 29, 2016. The Decree for the Establishment of the Medical Education Study Program and the Medical Profession Study Program at UIN Maliki Malang was submitted by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education to the Chancellor of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang, Prof. Dr. Mudjia Rahardjo, M.Si.

The issuance of permits for the establishment of the medical education and medical profession programs brings the number of health study programs/majors at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang to three. This prompted the university's leadership to combine the three programs under the auspices of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

After a discussion process at the university senate level which was then proposed to the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (KEMENPANRB), in January 2017, the Rector of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang issued a Rector's Decree establishing the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and appointed Prof. Dr. dr. Bambang Pardjianto, Sp.B, Sp.BP -RE (K) as the first dean of FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The Rector also appointed Dr. dr. Achdiat Agoes, Sp.S as Vice Dean I, Achmad Nashichuddin, MA as Vice Dean II and Dr. Imam Sujarwo as Vice Dean III.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FKIK) of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang now houses three study programs/departments, 50 permanent lecturers, 15 staff, and no less than 300 students, all working together to rebuild Islamic civilization in the health sector. May Allah SWT bless all the steps of the entire academic community of FKIK UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang with His grace and guidance., Amen, O Lord of the Worlds.

https://youtu.be/HAxWdaJdDJ8

UIN MAULANA MALIK IBRAHIM MALANG mempunyai cita-cita besar menjadi perguruan tinggi yang tidak saja melahirkan sosok-sosok besar seperti Al-Farabi, Al-Ghazali, Ibnu Khaldun, Ibnu Rusyd, tetapi juga sosok seperti seperti Ibnu Sina dan Ibnu Majah.
